Changes to June Primary

NY State Allows Absentee Ballot Voting for All NY Voters for June 23rd Primary Election

Elections 2020

The Covid-19 virus has caused many changes to the 2020 election cycle. The presidential primary has been cancelled. The June primary will be held on June 23.

Dates for the Village of Cooperstown election and school board and school budget elections will be held some time after June 1.

Absentee Voting

Governor Cuomo’s issued executive orders to allow all voters to vote by absentee ballot in the June 23, 2020, primary election. Voters will receive an absentee ballot application with a postage paid return envelope. By using the absentee ballot, you can mail your ballot and will not have to go to your regular polling place. You are not required to vote absentee, but please consider using this option as it will limit your exposure to others during the pandemic.

  • Step 1 In order to receive a ballot to vote absentee, you must file an abentee ballot application. All eligible voters will receive this application.
  • Step 2 Complete the application. Check the box for “Temporary illness or physical disability" and send to the Board of Elections by mail in the postage paid envelope or in person.
  • Step 3 Your absentee ballot will be mailed to you.  Complete and return it to the Board of Elections.
