                                 WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE!

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization whose purpose is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government. Membership is open to any citizen 18 years and older, and includes membership in the League of Women Voters of the United States and Pennsylvania.

APPLY ASAP FOR YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT
Applications for mail-in ballots for the November 3rd GENERAL ELECTION are available online at www.votespa.com.  For more information about voting by mail-in ballots visit www.votespa.com/mailballot.

Schedule for mail-in ballots.  Once your application has been processed you will receive a ballot.  Your completed ballot must be received in your county election office by 8 PM on 11/03/2020 (Election Day).  A late ballot will not be accepted, even if it was postmarked before the deadline.

Have patience.  Ballots will probably arrive toward the end of September or early October.  Mail as soon as possible given the current issues with the USPS.
You can track and check your ballot status online at https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/ballottracking.aspex.

Follow the ballot instructions carefully. Fill in the bubble with dark ink, no x's or check marks.  Use the secrecy (inside) envelope and the "declaration" (outside) envelope and don't forget to sign and date it.  Postage paid.

VOTING IN PERSON AT A POLLING PLACE.
You can still vote in person at a polling place but please know that due to COVID-19, your polling place may have changed.
Polling locations will be finalized soon, possibly by the third week of September.  Every registered voter will receive a letter with their polling location even if it is their normal polling location.

What if you applied for a mail-in ballot but now want to vote in-person?  Under the new election laws, unlike in the Primary election, you can remit that ballot with the outside declaration envelope on Election Day at your designated polling location.  Then you can vote in person on the machine.  If you do not have the mail-in ballot to remit, you can still vote by provisional ballot.

LEAGUE RESPONSE TO REPUBLICAN MAIL-IN VOTING CHALLENGE
The Pennsylvania League of Women Voters joins lawsuit to defend Act 77 mail-in voting

UPDATE ON REDISTRICTING EFFORTS IN PA
PA Legislative efforts to end gerrymandering come to a halt with the General Assembly on summer break, but....
Philadelphia Inquirer, July 9:
"The stakes are significant: Independent research shows gerrymandering protects incumbents and strips communities of political power by heavily concentrating one party’s voters into a single district or spreading them out unnaturally."
League of Women Voters member and co-founder of Fair Districts PA, Carol Kuniholm said that now with legislators on summer break, the bills that were under consideration as constitutional amendments are dead.  But the effort to end gerrymandering in Pennsylvania continues.

See the Calendar Page for a Town Hall Meeting discussing the Legislative and Congressional Redistricting Act (LACRA) which is designed to ensure transparency in the redistricting process and to provide significant opportunities for public participation.
